Most people on DateMate Social are here to meet someone genuine. A few are not. These habits keep you safe, online and when you meet.

Never send money

  • Never send money, gifts, crypto or loans to someone you met online, whatever the story: an emergency, a customs fee, a ticket, an "investment".
  • Be very careful with anyone who refuses to video call, says they live abroad, or moves fast to talk about money or investments.
  • Never share OTPs, passwords, card, UPI or bank details. DateMate Social staff will never ask for them.

Keep personal details private

  • Chat on DateMate Social first. Share your number, social handles, workplace or address only when you trust the person.
  • Don't share photos you wouldn't want public. Never send intimate images, and never pressure anyone to.
  • Your location is never shown to others, only a rounded distance. You can remove it from Discover settings.

Take your time

  • Look for the verified tick, and suggest a video call before you meet.
  • Trust your gut. If someone's story keeps changing, or they push you to rush, step back.

Meeting in person

  • Meet in a busy public place, like a café, and arrange your own travel there and back.
  • Tell a friend where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you'll check in.
  • Stay in control of your drink and your belongings. You can leave at any time, for any reason.

Consent matters

Ask before you talk about sex or send anything explicit. "No" means no, and silence is not a yes.

Block, unmatch and report

Use Report or Block on any profile or chat that makes you uncomfortable, asks for money or seems fake. Reports are confidential. You can also write to us at [support email]. If you have lost money or feel threatened, contact the police or report it at cybercrime.gov.in (helpline 1930). For women in distress, the national helpline is 181.
